Run the R-Word Out of Town 5K

Please join us on March 17, 2018 for the "Run the R-Word Out of Town" 5K! 

This race uses chip-timing, and it will raise funds for Best Buddies, a non-profit 501(c) organization that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), and promote awareness for the Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign, a national campaign that encourages people to pledge to stop using the word "retard."

What is Best Buddies?

Best Buddies is the world's largest organization dedicated to ending social, physical, and economic isolation in the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Its programs empower the special abilities of people with IDD by helping them form meaningful friendships with their peers, secure successful jobs, live independently, improve public speaking, self-advocacy and communication skills, and feel valued by society.

What is the Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign?

The Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign is a national campaign which encourages people to pledge to end their use of the word "retard" in order to create more accepting attitudes and communities for all people. 

Schedule

Day of race registration will begin at 7:30 AM. the race will begin at 9:00 AM, and the award ceremony will begin as soon as all racers have completed the course.
